So after far too long in the making, here is the completed Ulduar-25 Gear Guide. I know this comes pretty late into Ulduar but in my defence, I have only been writing since partway through Ulduar anyway. I opted not to put comments like in my 10-man Guide because I am aware of my ramblings and know you probably won't feel any great loss with them not being there. The result is a neater, more concise presentation in my opinion; making it easy to alt-tab to during a raid to see what this next boss will drop that you may have interest in.

I hope you get good use out of it, and don't forget the Ulduar 10-man Gear Guide.

  1. Nice one! I'd love it if you made some kind of priority list, but the value of gear stats might well be worth a post on its own ;-)

  2. Thanks Razen. I have done a stats list to talk about their relevance to us, but I think I do need to put together a follow up one like what Graylo has done on his blog.

In the future I may start splitting the gear guides into 'relevant' and 'irrelevant', with items featuring spirit or mp5 falling in the latter category.

  3. Take Horologist's Wristguards out of XT's list, as they're plate. You should probably take out most of the cloth & leather with spirit on too tbh.

  4. Wow, thanks. I must have had a mind lapse when I put the plate in there. Looking up every item is rather tedious task and I guess I zoned out for a bit. Sorry about that.

The spirit question is one I have been deliberating over. I don't know if taking it completely off the list is the best thing, because people will turn to it if it is a big enough upgrade (a good example is with bracers, as there are extremely limited options if you did not get good ones from Naxx 25). However, I don't want it to sound like I am promoting using them; I am not.

I've considered a primary and then secondary lists off each boss, excluding the ones with any less-valuable stats (mp5, spirit). What do you think?

  5. www.maxdps.com gives a good idea what is an upgrade for you. Just select Elemental Shaman, punch in your stats, and look at the gear that is prioritized for you!

Now, take it also with a pinch of salt, because Maxdps does not know what gear you have, and the implication when you swap out one piece for another. So look at the list sensibly and do some math yourself to see what you gain/lose. Just a tip. :)

  6. Sorry mate, but i must add my 2 words about Your "gear guide",its kind of crappy tbh. We should avoid spi and mp5,its better to get some naxx item wihtout spi but with elemental stats becouse it gives us more benefit, thats why for exaple we have only 2 weapons in ulduar, both hell hard to get,but thats not the topic,i like how You arranged this blog,i can see You spend a while doin this blog and it looks nice, but You must fix this spi/mp/5 errors becouse they make Your guide look silly.

Hope You take my honest words seriously.

    Cheers from

  7. Firstly, thank you for your readership Jeezredeemer. I appreciate everone who takes time to read my work and your suggestions are comments are important as they are the best way to relate back to my readers.

As you can see from a couple of posts above yours, including the Spirit and mp5 items is a debate I have been having for a while. I am well aware that these stats are near useless for us, but with the extreme lack of itemization for our spec we will often be forced into using something with these. Your example of weapons is a good one: Most elemental shaman who have been raiding for a reasonable period prior to Ulduar will be entering with Wraith Strike (unless you were luck and got Torch of Holy Fire). In this case, your first upgrade would easily be Guiding Star off of Razorscale which is laden with mp5. Removing this from the guide would be troublesome, as most people aren't going to be able to jump right from Wrath Strike to Soulscribe. Another good example would be with boots or wrist slot items because of their lacking in Ulduar.

I hope I have made my reasoning clear as to why I have kept these items on the gear guide. I am obviously still learning a lot about how to run a blog like this and your support is very helpful. Perhaps in the upcoming patch I will construct a gear guide to have a ranking system or something, but I am still working on this. Suggestions are appreciated, if you have any as to how I could go about this.

I may go through and remove some of the blatant non-elemental items which I feel have too much mp5 or spirit to be viable from these guides, but complete removal of all the items with those stats is too much and would work against my aim.

    Thanks again.
